Exploring the Sights and Textures of Autumn
At Little Lionhearts Nursery School, our Cubs enjoyed a crunchy, cosy sensory adventure inspired by the colours and textures of autumn. Using a rice crispy tray filled with cereal, animal figures, and natural treasures like pinecones and leaves, our children were encouraged to scoop, dig, and explore with curious hands. 🍂✨
Strengthening Fine Motor Skills
To add an extra layer of challenge and fun, we placed strips of tape across the tray, inviting our Cubs to lift, pull, and grasp objects underneath. This playful setup supported their fine motor development, strengthening hand muscles and coordination — all while keeping them deeply engaged in discovery.
Building Vocabulary Through Play
Flashcards with autumn-themed images encouraged conversations about the season and helped expand vocabulary. Our children enjoyed naming animals, identifying colours, and talking about the changes they see outdoors — from falling leaves to cooler weather.
Sensory Learning at Its Best
