A Hidden Risk in Many Nurseries
In most buildings, radiators can reach surface temperatures of 60–75°C.
For adults, this is rarely an issue.
For young children, it’s different.
- Skin is more sensitive
- Reactions are slower
- Curiosity leads to touching, leaning, and exploring
Even brief contact with a hot radiator can cause discomfort — or worse.
In many settings, standard radiator covers are used — or in some cases, radiators remain exposed.
We don’t believe that’s enough.

Instead of relying on basic covers, we’ve installed purpose-designed glass radiator panels throughout our nursery.
These are not decorative — they are specifically chosen to manage heat safely in environments used by young children.

- Significantly reduce access to high-temperature elements
- Distribute heat more evenly into the room
- Maintain a clean, calm, and uncluttered environment
This means children can explore freely — without unnecessary risk.

- Reduced access to exposed hot metal
- A consistent, comfortable temperature across the room
While it is not always practical to fully enclose every part of a radiator, our approach focuses on protecting the main contact surfaces and reducing risk where it matters most — at child height and in active areas.
In typical buildings, radiators can reach temperatures well above what is suitable for direct contact.
Our approach is designed to significantly reduce that risk.
We also regularly review our environments to ensure these standards are consistently maintained.
