Deputy Manager - (including path of progression)
£34,036 – £42,845 per year | Full-time, Permanent
Little Lionhearts Nursery School is a well-established large flagship nursery based in a beautiful Grade II–listed building in Harrow. With 168 registered places, our nursery operates at scale while maintaining high standards of care, strong systems, and a supportive, professional team culture.
Due to the size and complexity of the setting, we operate with a layered leadership structure and are seeking one or more experienced Deputy Nursery Managers to join our senior leadership team and support the day-to-day running of the nursery.
This role is ideal for experienced deputies or senior early years professionals who are confident working in a large, well-organised environment and are looking to progress their leadership career.
Salary & Appointment Level
- £34,036 – £42,845 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibility
- Appointments will be made at an appropriate level (Deputy Manager B, Deputy Manager A), based on experience and operational scope
The Role
Working closely with the Nursery Manager and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in ensuring the nursery operates safely, efficiently, and to a high standard at all times.
Depending on experience and responsibility level, duties may include:
- Supporting the day-to-day management of a large nursery setting
- Deputising for the Nursery Manager when required
- Providing leadership and support to room leaders and practitioners
- Monitoring quality, practice, and EYFS delivery across multiple rooms
- Supporting staff supervision, coaching, and performance management
- Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory compliance
- Building strong, professional relationships with parents and carers

What We’re Looking For
- A full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification (Level 5 preferred)
- Substantial experience in a senior early years role (Deputy Manager, Third in Charge, or Room Leader within a large setting)
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements
- Confidence leading teams and managing operational demands
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a large, structured environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Qualified Practitioner (including senior & leading level roles)
£26,850 – £34,577 per year | Full-time / Part-time
Little Lionhearts Nursery School is a well-established, large flagship nursery based in a beautiful Grade II–listed building in Harrow. We care for children aged 3 months to 5 years in a calm, well-organised, and well-resourced environment, supported by an experienced leadership team and clear systems.
As we continue to grow, we are recruiting Nursery Practitioners at multiple levels of experience. This role is suitable for qualified practitioners, experienced senior practitioners, and those ready to take on lead or room-level responsibility.
Salary & Progression
- £26,850 – £34,577 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities
- Appointments will be made at an appropriate level (Qualified Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, Lead Practitioner or Room Leader) following interview

The Role
Depending on experience and level, responsibilities may include:
- Delivering high-quality care and education in line with the EYFS
- Acting as a key person and supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
- Completing observations, assessments, and planning
- Supporting room quality and daily routines
- Building positive relationships with parents and carers
- Ensuring safeguarding, health, and safety procedures are followed
- For senior roles: supporting colleagues, leading practice, or managing a room
About You
- A full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification (CACHE / NVQ or equivalent) or QTS
- Experience working with children under 5
- Good understanding of the EYFS
- Experience with SEND is an advantage
- Confident using electronic learning journals
- Professional, reliable, and a strong team player
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
