Who is eligible for funding for children aged 3 +?
All families in England are entitled to 15 hours of free early education per week from the term after their child turns 3.
Some working families may also qualify for an extra 15 hours, making it 30 hours per week.
What is the stretched offer?
At Little Lionhearts, we offer a stretched funding model over 51 weeks of the year (rather than term-time only).
This means:
- 15 hours/week becomes approx. 11.18 hours/week
- 30 hours/week becomes approx. 22.35 hours/week
This allows your child to attend childcare year-round, with monthly fees spread evenly across the year.
Who qualifies for 30 hours of funding?
To be eligible for 30 hours, you must:
- Be working (employed or self-employed)
- Earn at least the equivalent of 16 hours/week at minimum wage
- Earn less than £100,000 per year (each parent, if applicable)
You can still qualify if you’re on maternity/paternity/adoption leave, or temporarily off work due to illness or caring responsibilities.
You must apply online and reconfirm your details every 3 months via your HMRC childcare account.
How do I Apply?
Visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to check eligibility and apply.
If you need help, our nursery manager is happy to guide you through the process.
Funded Year-Round Stretched
We offer the option to stretch your child’s funded hours over the full year: 15 hours becomes 11.18 hours per week, and 30 hours becomes 22.35 hours per week when spread across 51 weeks. The total is then divided into 12 equal monthly instalments for easier budgeting.
Funded Term-Time Only
Although we are a year-round setting, we offer a limited number of term-time-only funded places. These places are based on 38 weeks of government-funded childcare per year. To make payments more manageable, the total cost (including applicable meal and sundry charges) is spread evenly over 12 equal monthly instalments.
Session / £ Per Month | Meals & Sundry |
---|---|
3 Mornings (15 Hours) | £103 / month |
3 Afternoons (15 Hours) | £68 / month |
3 Full day (30 Hours) | £171 / month |
9 am to 3 pm (Core 30 Hours) | £285 / month |
🎟️Flexi Childcare
Receive childcare vouchers that can be used flexibly for any AM or PM session (subject to room availability), perfect for those unexpected days.
Opt-out
Please note that government funding only covers the basic statutory childcare.
To maintain high-quality education and care, we charge for meals, consumables, enrichment activities, and any additional hours.
Parents may opt out of meals, consumables, and enrichment activities; however, to ensure the safeguarding, safety, and wellbeing of all children, we require families to follow our strict opt-out policy. For example, those opting out of meals must adhere to our packed lunch guidelines, which are designed to meet dietary, allergy, and food safety standards. Full details of the opt-out process and requirements are available upon request.
